We are excited to announce our new curriculum!
The curriculum will be fully launched this Fall. In the meantime, take a look at the following preview. And please note that you don’t need to wait until Fall to get started—courses that you take this Summer (or have taken previously) will all count towards the programs you are interested in participating in.
Based on our heritage and legacy—the Muslim scholarly tradition—our curriculum represents centuries of scholarship, expertise, rigor, and intelligence. It takes students with no knowledge of the religious sciences or Arabic and plugs them directly into this tradition, and students can either just learn the personally obligatory basics or continue on to study texts in their original Arabic.
Our curriculum was developed under the review and approval of several institutions and scholars in the Muslim World, including the Grand Mufti of Jordan Shaykh Nuh Ali Salman, WISE International Institute in Jordan, Mahd al-Fath in Syria, and Al-Ahqaf University in Yemen.

Dhu’l Nun al-Masri was asked about love. He responded,
“It is to love that which Allah loves,
to hate that which Allah hates,
to perform all good,
to reject everything that busies you from Allah,
and not to fear any blame for the sake of Allah,
while being gentle with believers, stern with disbelievers,
and
to follow the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace)
in matters of religion.” [Abu Nu`aym, Hilyat al-Awliya’, 9.394]

As for the Messenger of Allah (SAAS), he used to do wudu’ (ablution) while the Companions would see him. They would then copy him without being explained by him that this is a rukn and that is an adab. And when he (SAAS) used to pray they would see him and pray as they had seen him praying. (Similarly) when he performed hajj, people saw him and did as they saw him doing.
This was his (SAAS)’s general practice. He did not explain that obligation (furud) of wudu were six or four. Neither did he prescribe that if a man performs wudu without observing muwalat (1)(continuity) judgement would be made on the validity or invalidity of his wudu. On some occasions, however, he used to explain such things.

Allah has given us a task and He is aware of our needs. Can you imagine Allah Jalla Jalalahu entrusting us with a task whilst neglecting to guarantee our sustenance? If someone were to represent a company or an institution- a big company in the eyes of the people of the world-in his own country and abroad-in order to conclude a business deal, to make a bid, or for research purposes, would the representative bear the burden of the expense?
No, because he is confident that his large, wealthy company-in his eyes-will provide him with a ticket, living expenses, travelling expenses and will also reimburse him for his entire journey. He will travel with very little worry about expenses because he is confident that his company, as long as it has contracted him to do this task, is duty-bound to fulfil his needs.
SubhanAllah ( Glory be to Allah), such is our certainty in creation- who have no ability whatsoever to benefit themselves, or to keep harm at bay- such is the strength of certainty in our hearts that no room is left to worry about expenses. This is because a component, able company has given us a task. What then, do you think of an Able Lord possessed of Absolute Ability? The Sublime Jala Jalalahu, Who gave us tasks in our life? Can you imagine Him setting us a task whilst failing to supply the necessary resources? It is incumbent upon you to have this understanding, as opposed to such fear of poverty enters your heart, or doubt in Allah’s promise of rizq.

If one surfs Muslim forums, whether Sunni or otherwise, there is a startling reality: forgotten priorities.
We find armies of ignorant people clashing in the darkness of ignorance about matters they don’t understand, matters that the great imams of Islam differed upon with decorum.
Such argument and dispute is highly reprehensible. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
“No people went astray after having been given guidance except after they started argumentation.” [Tirmidhi and Ibn Maja, from Abu Umama (Allah be pleased with him)]

In this lecture titled ” Being a Real Man” ( from the Radical Middle Way website) Shaykh Faraz quotes Ibn Rajab on what made the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon Him) character great. Ibn Rajab listed five matters and said that the Prophet’s ( peace and blessings upon Him) character was great because he:
Full filed the rights of others
Avoided harming people
Acted with people with excellence (i.e. positive, cheerful and with full attention yet was firm as and when required)
Responded to good of others with the good or that which was better (while also appreciating the good others did)
Responded to wrong of others with nothing but the good. (Shaykh Faraz said this is the most difficult of the five).
May we gain the desire of learning and implementing the above. Allahumma Ameen.

“So whoever longs to meet his Lord, let him work righteousness, and not associate with his Lord’s worship anyone” (Koran 18:110).
The rewards for acts mentioned in Koran and hadith, according to the masters of the way, are bestowed by Allah to manifest His limitless generosity to His servants if and only if these acts are for Him alone; not when reward as such is the reason for performing them. It is not suitable for spiritual works in the path of sincerity to be primarily for self interests, in this world or the next. Some scholars, such as Imam Ghazali in his Minhaj al-‘abidin, have even held that to seek nothing beyond an act’s reward nullifies its entire value with Allah. But the sounder position is that Allah in His mercy and kindness may inspire such a servant to eliminate the defective intention by disclosing to him the reality of his own self; that Allah alone created it and its worship, and that He has a better right to be what is intended therein. Superior still is that the sole devotion to Allah, as an “intention,” accompany only the beginning of the act, to be then superseded by one’s “absence” from the work, solely beholding Allah in the heart, for Allah loves those who behold Him.
If these are the states of those at the end of the path, beginners, for their part, reach them by successive approximations, as a person after a long illness strengthens unused muscles by practicing walking a little farther each day, to be eventually able to walk as far as he wants.
There is little need to dwell on those who perform acts of worship out of habit, automatically, without having any particular intention in their hearts: they are neither worshipping Allah nor other than Him, and can expect nothing from their acts except to pass time.
